A teacher's college in China has sparked quite a stir due to its unusual policy of hiring only beautiful lecturers.

When Sichuan Normal University in Chengdu uploaded stunning photos of their female lecturers on social media, Chinese netizens were stunned.

Now, these lecturers are called as “goddesses” and even have their own fan-base, with some being compared to their striking resemblance to popular actresses.

All these lecturers specialize in teaching different majors such as singing, dancing, artistic design, theater and English.

The school’s social media publicity supervisor, Xu revealed that, “The female teachers are selected based not only on their academic achievements, but also on their popularity and appearances.

"Because we are a teachers' college, our students will be teachers in the future, reports The Coverage.

"We wanted these lecturers to be their examples and to show them what they could become," Xu said.

According to Xu, this is one of their strategies to get more students to sit in for extra classes and to encourage them to study harder.

Xu added, "students are very willing to take their lessons. Some said they would sit in on extra classes just to see these teachers.

Netizens were full of praise for the teachers’ beauty.

"If i were still studying I would surely work harder," and "They are impossibly beautiful."

But the school also adds that these lecturers were hired because they have the talent to teach.
