South Korea has a reputation for being very image-conscious and having high standards for beauty.

Plus-size beauties have been making a statement in the Western World and now, Kim Gee Yang, the self-proclaimed first ever plus-size model from Korea is here to make her mark.

According to Dramafever, shes says that she feels "kind of alien in Korea" standing at 5 feet 5 inches and weighing 154 pounds.

The 29-year-old said that finding clothes that fit is not so easy as she is considered fat in Korea.

However, Kim is out to go against Korea's aesthetic ideal of physical beauty to set an example for other full-figured ladies.

She has launched her own plus size fashion culture magazine 66100 with the motto: "No matter what, you are beautiful".

Instead of falling victim to nasty comments about her size, she has taken control by publishing them in her magazine.

She said:

"By printing them, I took control of them. Now they can't hurt me or anyone else."
