It is part of Colombian tradition to burn effigies to ward off bad luck during New Year's Eve.

Some Colombians however took things a little too far.

According to Rappler, effigies of both Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach and US comedian Steve Harvey were burned as part of celebrations.

This is in response to Harvey's mix-up on Dec 20. Pia won the Miss Universe title host Steve Harvey mistakenly announced Colombia's Ariadna Gutierrez as the winner.

Photos of the effigies and videos of showing the burning of the effigies have surfaced online after the Colombian's New Year celebrations.

Filipino netizens have called out those who were involved, calling them 'bitter' over Miss Colombia's loss at the Miss Universe Pageant.
