When Steven Spielberg wants you to get pregnant, you get pregnant.

Or so it seemed to Moon Bloodgood, whose character on the Spielberg produced show Falling Skies realised she was pregnant at the end of the last season - a week before the Korean-American actress made the same discovery about herself.

"Last year, when we were about to do the finale, I heard rumours that my character was pregnant," says Bloodgood, who has had supporting roles in sci-fi actioner Terminator Salvation (2009) and indie drama The Sessions (2012).

"Then our showrunner took my husband to one side and said, 'If you want to get pregnant, now's a great time.'

"And a week later, we got pregnant. I couldn't believe it," the 37-year-old told Life! at a press event in Los Angeles. Her daughter Pepper, her first child with husband Grady Hall, who owns an Internet company, was born last December.

Her on-screen baby will be born early on in Season 3 of Falling Skies - a development cheered on by Spielberg, the director behind Jaws (1975), E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982) and Jurassic Park (1993).
