Donnie Yen Chi Tan, Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, Joe Chen Chiao-En starred in the film The Monkey King that will be released on January 30th next year.

According to an article in hktopten, Donnie Yen sat through five hours of make-up every day just to bring the Sun Wukong character to life.

His forehead, sides of his nose, chin, and fake ears were all crafted with the use of silica gel.

He also had animal spots airbrushed on his hands and face.

Donnie Yen said, "After make-up, you can't see Yen Chi Tan at all. It's great.

"This time I play a monkey, so I have to feel like a monkey."

He however admitted that production was tough this time round.

Apart from the false teeth that kept him from eating, the long hours in the make up chair also gave him back aches.
