Taiwan beauty sparks online controversy with these cosplay photos -- but not for the reason you would expect

The character Hestia from the anime Danmachi, known as Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? in English, has been notoriously difficult for cosplayers to pull off.

How is a ribbon tied around your chest supposed to make your chest bigger? And then how do you even move your arms? But if one cosplayer is up to the task, it’s Taiwanese cosplayer Ma You Rong.

She’s well-known for pulling off busty cosplays, and last time we saw her she was causing a controversy online for her portrayal of Naruto’s Tsunade, report RocketNews24 and ET Today.

Now she’s the center of an online uproar again for her attempt at a Hestia cosplay, but it’s not for the reason you may be thinking. After posting her pictures on social media, Ma You Rong was bombarded by comments critiquing her imperfect cosplay.

She got messages like: “No gloves? Are you kidding?” “Use a wig for god’s sake,” and “You’re wearing the ribbon all wrong” among many others.

Ma You Rong has responded to her detractors, saying that she never intended it to be a one hundred-percent accurate cosplay; it was just for fun.

She also added: “It’s thanks to extreme groups of people like you haters that people are scared away from cosplaying. If you actually love cosplay, then don’t press your opinion on others.

Everyone is free in the world of cosplay, and their opinion of what cosplay should be doesn’t have to be the same as you.”
