Star Wars creator George Lucas just got $2.5 billion richer

George Lucas, creator of the famous Star Wars franchise, was just awarded 37 million Disney shares in line with the sale of Lucasfilm in October 2012.The shares, according to Huffington Post, could be worth over US$2 billion (S$2.5 billion), reported ST Communities.Huffington Post says: "That Lucas received the stock shares is anything but a surprise. In the press release announcing Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm, it was stipulated that half of the US$4.05 billion purchase price would come from stock shares".Where will all the money go? Here's what Lucas said last year: "For 41 years, the majority of my time and money has been put into the company. As I start a new chapter in my life, it is gratifying that I have the opportunity to devote more time and resources to philanthropy."
