S'pore woman spends over $500 on cosmetics -- just to get SHINee tickets

A Singaporean woman proved to be one of SHINee's biggest fans -- as she spent more than $500 on cosmetics to secure tickets to see her K-pop idols.

The part-time service crew Samantha Sum, 23, said it was "very worth it".

Joining Ms Sum at the Marina Bay Sands Convention yesterday (August 27) was more than 1,000 fans who queued to see boyband SHINee and Sulli from girl group f(x), reports The Straits Times Communities.

The South Korean pop stars were at an event organised by Korean cosmetics brand Etude House, the Etude House Pink Play Party. The doors opened at 5pm, and the concert was due to start at 7pm.

Some fans, like Tessa Chloe Goh, 50, who works in human resources, had started queueing since 8.30am in the morning to ensure that they will be able to get a good view of SHINee at the event, who are brand ambassadors for Etude House.

"There were actually more than 50 people ahead of us even when we arrived that early," said Ms Goh.

She was "slightly disappointed" that her favourite member, Minho, 21, could not make it for the event because of filming commitments in Korea.

At the press conference before the event, Jonghyun, 23, said that the group will work hard to prepare a special performance in spite of Minho's absence.

A total of 3,500 fans attended the event. They had received tickets through giveaways and promotional events.

Some 650 fans received tickets after collecting five different peel-off stickers featuring all the SHINee members. One sticker was given for every $20 spent at the store.
