Simon Cowell breaks word on quitting smoking for his baby

Simon Cowell is going to create a smoking room in his house when his baby is born.

The music boss previously claimed he would give up his harmful habit when his child with girlfriend Lauren Silverman is born, but admits he "lied" and instead intends to create a smoke-friendly space where he can puff away without affecting the tot.

Speaking to reporters after an episode taping for 'The X Factor' USA last week, Simon cheekily said: "There are a lot of boring things that happen when you have a baby. You have to get rid of sharp edges, cigarettes, alcohol ... then there's the toilet to make safe. But I'll have a smoking room!"

The 54-year-old star also revealed he tried switching from tobacco to electronic cigarettes but they "don't work".

Simon has also been enjoying some baby banter with One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson, whose mother is expecting another child.

He said: "I was just texting with Louis the other night because his mum is pregnant and is going to have the baby the same time as Lauren. So it's like, who is going to go first? I think I am going to win."
