New celeb couples alert: Will their relationships last?

They're on for a minute and off the next.

Hollywood stars are a fickle lot, but their dating adventures make for fun watching.

The New Paper looks at the hottest couples to have reportedly hooked up over the holidays and wonder if they will still be together by Valentine's Day, much less this period next year.

Miley Cyrus, 21, and Kellan Lutz, 28

The pair shared a very public kiss at a party in Las Vegas just before the New Year and have reportedly been seeing each other since early December.

But Twilight star Lutz has come out to say in a radio interview that they are friends who "run in the same circle".

He told E! News on Monday: "For Miley, I've been friends with her for six years now... I just laugh it off.

"She's an amazing girl and she has a great head on her shoulders. I love hanging out with her because she is who she is and she's such a shining star.

"I'm just focused on work but I'm happy to be friends with her."

A friend of Wrecking Ball singer Cyrus has also said that she doesn't want to give the Hollywood stud the "relationship he wants".

Prediction: Sounds like a friends with benefits scenario. Done as soon as either finds a new long-term relationship.

Justin Bieber, 19, and Selena Gomez, 21

It all started on Thursday when the Canadian heart-throb and US actress Gomez, who broke up early last year, cruised through Californian suburb Calabasas on a pair of Segways, prompting rumours of a romantic reconciliation.

But it was a post on Bieber's Instagram account the following day that sealed the deal.

He gave credence to those whispers by posting a black and white intimate moment shot with Gomez on Instagram, pegged with a caption that read: 'Love the way you look at me.'

Prediction: With Bieber sorta kinda joking about retiring and Gomez taking a break from work, the couple have plenty of time to sort relationship issues out. We predict engagement news by June.

Lee Seung Gi, 26 and Im Yoona, 23

This pairing comes as no surprise.

Long before they started dating, the couple had publicly described the other as their ideal significant other.

The official news came on New Year's Day, via Lee's management agency Hook Entertainment. After the official announcement, celebrity news website Dispatch reported that Lee, a South Korean singer and actor, and the Girls' Generation member have been dating since September.

Prediction: Both singers have great comedic acting chops. We're hoping this couple make it all the way to the altar.
