Chinese actress Liu Yifei has won her first major award in her 11-year career when she was crowned Best Actress at the 5th Macau International Movies Festival.

The festival, which took place over two nights, saw Liu win the award for her role in The Assassins, which took her by surprise, reported HKTopTen.

In her speech after receving the award, Liu said she was both surprised and honored, and that acting helped her grow into the person she is today, and it has also become the most important part of her life.

Other winners on the night include Anthony Wong (Best Actor) for his role in Ip Man: The Final Fight, while Jackie Chan snagged two awards -- Best Director and Best Action Film -- for his flick CZ12.

William Chan won Best Suppoting Actor for his role alongside Nicholas Tse and Simon Yam in the film As the light goes out, while Gillian Chung won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Ip Man: The Final Fight.
