Many will remember the scandal that erupted when singer IU uploaded a picture of her with Super Junior's Eunhyuk. On SBS' "Incarnation", IU talked about the scandal for the first time.
Reported JPopAsia, the topic was unavoidable, so when asked about it, IU said, "I wondered, why did this happen? Why did I do this? First, I did upload it by mistake. And to be honest, I couldn't even blame anyone else because I was the one who uploaded it. It wasn't that I could even have a hard time because of it [because it was my fault]."
"I was so sorry to many people," she explained. "Since I did it myself, I thought, who should I feel the most apologetic to? Should I be sorry to the people who loved me? Or should I be sorry to the people who loved the person I hurt (the other person in the photo)? I also thought a lot about, should I go out and apologize to everyone and clear up all the misunderstandings, or should I just stay quiet? I pushed back variety shows as much as I could because of that.
"I was so sorry. It wasn't something that made me have a hard time, being a burden on me or anything because I should just be sorry to everyone. I'm so sorry."
She also addressed the subsequent rumors regarding her after the scandal, "From what I know, a netizen pretended to be an information source. The rumor got blown out of proportion and was written up as an article. Lately, I get a lot of messages on SNS, and that's how I first found out. I started getting phone calls. I even got congratulatory texts. My label only knew because I told them"
"That day, I was supposed to go to Lee Hyun Woo's movie screening, but the label told me not to go. They told me it would be the best to stay quiet, and told me to stay home, and I got so angry. But my manager begged me for the first time, so I said I wouldn't go, but I asked them to make sure to catch the person responsible."
"In the end, we caught the netizen. I'm planning on meeting him soon. It's the meeting I'm looking the most forward to in 2013."
These were the statements from their respective companies:
"Hello. This is Loen Entertainment.
"This is an official statement regarding the picture that was revealed early this morning through IU’s Twitter.
"First, we bow our heads and sincerely apologize for causing concern to all the representatives and all the fans of IU and Super Junior.
"The revealed photo was from this summer when IU was very sick and Eunhyuk had come to visit her at her home, and was taken then when they sat on the sofa together; it was revealed to the outside due to IU’s mistake through her related photo uploading service while IU was making a mention on Twitter.
"IU is sincerely sorry for bringing harm to her sunbae Eunhyuk due to her error.
"Lastly, IU and Eunhyuk are close sunbae-hoobae who have been close since IU’s debut, Eunhyuk is close to the point that he has even dined with IU’s mother. We ask that you do not exaggerate or make assumptions about IU and Eunhyuk’s relationship due to this incident.
"We will return to greet you as a more matured agency after having learned from this incident. We apologize once again.
"We are sorry.
"Loen Entertainment "
SM Entertainment has declined to comment on the recent scandal that erupted after IU posted a picture to her Twitter account, showing her in her pajamas with Super Junior‘s Eunhyuk. The picture was taken down minutes later.
“We don’t have anything particular to say,” the company said, in response to a call for a statement. Since the scandal erupted over IU’s mistake, and her company Loen Entertainment has already released a statement on the matter, SM Entertainment had decided to stay quiet on the subject, possibly wary of further repercussion.
