Girl takes out $21k student loan -- then spends it all on plastic surgery

A student who took out a $17,000 ($21,228) loan for her studies spent the lot on plastic surgery.

NY Daily News reports that English Literature graduate Katerina Christodoulou splashed out on plastic surgery for her thighs, bum, hips and knees, while an ex-boyfriend bought her some new breasts.

For good measure, the Briton is now considering a nose job. She has also decided to pursue a career as a model.

"I did think about using the moment to put a deposit down on a house, but then I thought, 'why not use the money to make myself happy now'," she said.

"I know some people might be surprised to hear that I spent my student loan on my body, but it was worth it for how I feel now."

Under British higher education rules, students take a loan from the government, then pay it back within 25 years once they start earning more than $28,000 a year, reports the Leicester Mercury.

If students are unable to pay back the loan after 25 years, the bill passes to the taxpayer.
