Hong Kong actress Christine Kuo has hit out at rumours about her recent weight gain and threatened to take legal action against those responsible.

Rumours started swirling around after Kuo shocked observers when she turned up at the recent Starhub TVB Awards 2013 in Singapore looking vastly difference from her previously-curvaceous due to a tremendous weight gain.

Tabloid reports subsequently claimed that Christine's dramatic weight gain was due to her consuming contraceptive pills for a period of time.

In light of those rumours, Christine has since come forward to reveal the true reason behind her weight gain -- insufficient rest, reported Asianpopnews.

She said that a lack of rest due to her hectic work schedule and stress were the factors which led to her putting on weight.

The stress, she said, was also caused by negative reports which constantly gave her grief.

An angered Christine told reporters: "That report (on her consuming contraceptive pills) was untrue and irresponsible. I did not take any contraceptive pills.

"Please do not ruin my reputation. I can just laugh off the reports in the past but...don't think that my silence can allow you to write in such exaggerating manner.

"I will discuss with my lawyer. I do not wish to tolerate it again."
