CCTV footage of Korean singer Son Ho Young's suicide attempt aired

Source: The Straits Times via AsiaOne Photos: InternetSeoul - A South Korean television entertainment show came under fire for airing surveillance footage showing singer Son Ho Young's attempted suicide, it was reported.Son, formerly of boy band g.o.d, was hospitalised after his suicide attempt in his car early Friday, hours after he attended the funeral of his girlfriend who was found dead in the car two days before.Entertainment Weekly, the show on state-run KBS2 network, aired video showing a car on fire as Son burnt a toxic substance in it.Firemen tamed the fire and Son was rushed to the hospital.Fans attacked the network for being disrespectful, reported The Korea Herald. They said the video might lead to "copycat suicides".Police said Son's girlfriend had killed herself by burning coal and inhaling the fumes.Son, 33, reportedly attempted suicide by using the same method but his car caught fire.A passer-by at the carpark saw the car and called emergency services.
