Britney Spears' ex-BF killed in Afghanistan by the Taliban

Britney Spears’ former boyfriend, a 44-year-old man named John Sundahl, was killed last week in Afghanistan by the Taliban.

Sundahl was in Afghanistan working as a pilot, flying foreign dignitaries in and out of the war-torn region. A Taliban missile reportedly hit a helicopter he was piloting close to Kabul.

According to Elite Daily, a source close to Spears said, "She is devastated. Britney thought he was a lovely man."

Spears and Sundahl met back in 2007 at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. This was when Spears was going through a very public meltdown and battling substance abuse issues.

Back then, Sundahl reportedly told the National Enquirer, "I told her: ‘If you fall off the wagon, I don’t think you will live… If you don’t want to get sober for yourself, do it for your kids.’ She truly wants to stop what she’s doing, and she has changed her life in another direction. She doesn’t get drunk every night and pass out."

Spears and Sundahl are said to have dated for a few months. They remained good friends even after they parted ways. There was even a rumor the two started dating again in the summer of 2014, even though Sundahl was working in Afghanistan at the time.

Sundahl’s brother, Karl, released a statement saying, "John was on a journey from Kabul when he was shot at and killed. We were told by the State that John had died, they told us the Taliban did it.

"This is just awful. My family are heartbroken, my parents are elderly so this is very tough for them, and all of us. We know Britney’s upset too. John was still good friends with Britney, he talked to her regularly. They dated for a while but always kept in touch afterwards."

Sundahl’s body has been returned to the United States and was buried in Los Angeles last week.
