Posing and pouting, she sizzled in her sexy outfit in front of appreciative photographers. If they couldn’t get enough of her, there was more. Beside her was another beauty contestant who looked just like her ‘“ her twin sister. And both were taking part in Singapore Press Holdings’ (SPH) Cats Classified Car-nival 2013 Race Queen Pageant at Singapore Expo on Sunday. For Miss Melissa Lim, 19, the elder twin by a minute, it was the first time she was taking part in a beauty pageant. And she was named first runner-up.Her sister Sheryl also clinched a spot in the top 12 for the first time. There were 50 contestants in the pageant. The twins, who are students, said they readabout the pageant on Facebook, and Melissa told Sheryl she wanted to join.It surprised Sheryl as her older sister had shown little interest in such events. Said Sheryl: “I’m usually the one who wants to join. “This was her first beauty pageant and she gotrunner-up. I’m really happy for her.‘Melissa said the results were unexpected. She said: “This was our first beauty pageant together so we never expected to make it to the top 12,much less for me to win second place.‘As race queens, the girls had to strut around the stage in sexy outfits and pose with luxury cars. When asked if they felt uneasy about the attire,, Melissa said they were used to it. “We’ve participated in many cheerleading competitions and worked in club events where we’ve had to wear revealing clothes,‘ she said.“It also helps that our parents approve. They naturally have their concerns about how people will view us and have told us to be careful on how we pose for photographers.‘View pictures of Melissa, Sheryl and other contestants in the gallery below.
