MediaCorp actress Ann Kok has acted in a TV movie before but the upcoming Filial Party will mark her official big screen debut.

The Straits Times reports that she plays a lawyer, one of three final contestants in a high-stakes game show called I Am Filial.

To win the $1 million in prize money, contestants have to demonstrate exceptional filial piety.

The other two finalists are a school security guard played by Christopher Lee (Kidnapper, 2010) and a high school student.

The producer of the show is played by Mark Lee (Taxi! Taxi!, 2013).

The $1.5 million-budgeted movie will be directed by Boris Boo (Greedy Ghost, 2012) from a script by Rebecca Leow (The Wedding Diary, 2012).

PTO Movies, Clover Films and Picasso Productions are behind it. Golden Village Pictures and MM2 Entertainment will be co-distributing the movie with Clover in Singapore and Malaysia respectively.

It is slated to be released here in the second quarter of 2014.
