Hollywood A-listers John Cusack and Adrien Brody have been confirmed to star in period action film Dragon Blade.
The film, mooted as the most expensive ever in China, will see Cusack play Lucius, a Roman general who leads his legion into the country, with Brody as a power-hungry Tiberius who kills a Roman consul and goes after Lucius with 100,000 troops.
Variety reports that Jackie Chan will play a commander of the protectorate of the Western regions, who joins forces with Lucius to protect China's borders and sovereignty.
The production budget is said be US$65 million (S$81.3 million), making it one of the top three costliest Chinese films of all time.
Director Daniel Lee has wrapped up production at the Hengdian World Studios and will commence shooting in parts of the Gobi Desert. Chan, meanwhile, already has plans after the film.
He is in line to shoot another action film, Skiptrace, before starring again in Chinese Zodiac II, the comedy actioner he directed in 2012.
