Actor Bae Yong Joon was accused of fraud by a health supplement maker.
Gorilla Life Way, a company in which the star holds 95 per cent of the shares, allegedly appropriated 2.5 billion won (S$3 million) from Koje, the health supplement maker, while processing an exclusive deal to export a Korean red ginseng product to Japan.
But KeyEast, a company in which the star is a major shareholder, issued an statement alleging that Koje was "maliciously bringing down Bae's reputation as a top star to spread their claim".
"We will not remain silent about such a deed, and will take stern legal action, including suing them for false accusations," the statement added.
Koje filed the case at the Northern Seoul Prosecutors' Office on Sept 19.
