News of former Mediacorp actress Tiffany Leong's death on Monday (Dec 28) came as a shock to many.
One of them was former Mediacorp colleague Yao Wen Long, who wrote the following heartfelt message on his Instagram account upon hearing the news:
"Heaven is cruel to take you away, or maybe it's because God doesn't want to see you in pain anymore. Hope you will lead a happy and healthy life in heaven as an angel. I will miss you forever."
Leong died after a two-year battle with a rare hereditary disorder, reports The Straits Times.
She was diagnosed with multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN) syndrome in 2013.
Her passing was announced in a message on her Facebook page on Monday (Dec 28) at about 7.30pm.
According to a report in Malaysian paper Oriental Daily, Leong, also known as Zhuo Qi, had about 60 percent of her liver removed as part of treatment.
She returned to filming in Malaysia early this year, but was forced to stop again after an infection. She suffered a relapse recently.
Leong was a successful host and model in Malaysia before crossing the straits to star in Singapore TV shows.
The actress and television host appeared in Singapore and Malaysia productions such as La Femme (2008), Priceless Wonder (2010) and Turning Point (2015).
She was nominated for the Top 10 most popular female artists at the 2011 Star Awards.
