Relatives of blogger Guo Meimei threaten to do THIS to Chinese government if she is not released

Well-known Chinese micro-blogger Guo Meimei whose online posts were criticized for tarnishing the reputation of the Red Cross Society of China was sentenced to five years in prison and fined 50,000 yuan ($11,072) on Thursday for operating gambling houses.

According to Shanghaiist however, the internet celebrity has yet again made headlines, this time because her relatives claim to hold damaging information on the Red Cross Society of China (RCSC).

The blogger's relatives have threatened to reveal harmful information that may damage the reputation of not only thr RCSC but also other high-ranking Chinese officials unless Guo is released by Sep 20.

Netizens are skeptical about the blogger's 'mysterious' celebrities. Some have also questioned their boldness in trying to blackmail the Chinese government. 

For now, only time will tell what happens next in the Guo Meimei saga.
