It came as shocking news to fans when rumours of the breakup between Taiwanese singer Elva Hsiao and Singaporean businessman boyfriend Elroy Cheo surfaced.
She performed at a fashion event last Friday and was at her company's year-end party the day after. Asked why Cheo was not by her side, she replied: "Yes, right." She would not say if they had split up.
According to Asian Pop News, she has now finally responded to her relationship status.
Elva confirmed the breakup.
A source disclosed that the couple had broken up 6 months ago due to incompatible personalities, but they still remain as friends.
Elva's manager said, “They are back to being good friends now, and are focusing on work and life. Thank you everyone for your concern.”
According to Asian E-News Portal, Taiwanese media reported that after a tiff last July, Elroy unfollowed Elva on her Instagram. He followed again on her Instagram, but the pair had not been posting any photos. Elroy was also not seen together with Elva at public events.
Hsiao was first romantically linked with Cheo in July 2014, following her split from actor Kai Ko.
In December that year, Cheo - whose sister, Arissa, is the wife of United States-born Taiwanese singer Van Ness Wu - made public a photo of himself cuddling Hsiao.
Since dating, they have been flaunting their loving photos on the social media. Many also thought that they would tie the knot soon as their relationship had been stable.
