Charlie Sheen has announced he is HIV positive and was diagnosed four years ago.
The 50-year-old actor revealed he's had it since four years ago and first thought he had a brain tumour.
"I thought based on migraines and cluster headaches and sweating the bed for nights in a row that I had a brain tumour. I thought it was over. After a battery of tests they told me this is what's going on. It's a hard three letters to absorb, it's a turning point in one's life."
'Charlie had sex with multiple partners since learning his HIV status without informing them of his potentially deadly HIV infection,' a source told the Enquirer.
Another source said; 'Charlie hired escorts, and him being HIV-positive never entered these women’s minds.
Sheen has been married three times and has five children - a daughter Cassandra, 21, with high school sweetheart Paula Profit; Daughters Sam, 11, and Lola, 10, with second wife Denise Richards; and twin boys Bob and Max, 6, with third wife Brooke Mueller.
He had been engaged to be married to adult film star Scottine Ross, also known as Brett Rossi, but the engagement was called off in October 2014 after eight months.
In a video obtained by the Enquirer, Ross is reportedly seen screaming about Sheen; 'You exposed me to HIV for a year and a half!'
An insider claims; 'Sheen waited over four months to inform Scottine that he was HIV positive. From the very beginning, Sheen never used protection, saying he "loved" her.'
Sheen also admitted he has been the victim of several extortion plots as he tried to keep his diagnosis secret over the past four years and has paid out millions to prevent the news going public.
Charlie replied: "We're talking about shakedowns. I've paid those people, not that many, but enough to bring it into the millions. That's money they're taking from my children. It's not just me. I've got five kids and a granddaughter."
He said: "I'm here to admit that I am in fact HIV positive. I had to put a stop to this onslaught and barrage of attacks and sub-truths. These very harmful and mercurial stories about threatening the health of so many others."
Charlie - who has been open about using prostitutes - said one sex worked tried to blackmail him after finding his HIV medication in his bathroom.
When asked why he continued to invite prostitutes to his home despite the blackmail, Charlie said it was because he was depressed.
Charlie - who called himself a "survivor" during the interview - revealed both his ex-wives, Brooke Mueller and Denise Richards were aware of his illness and said: "I'm not going to be the poster man for this, but I will not shun away from responsibilities."
While it has been claimed that Charlie - who doesn't "entirely know" how he transmitted the disease - kept his diagnosis from a number of his sexual partners, he denied this in a letter to 'Today's Matt Lauer.
The show's account tweeted a section of the letter in which Charlie said: "I always led with condoms and honesty when it came to my condition."
He admitted to having unprotected sex twice since he found out about his condition but added: "they were under the care of my doctor".
'The fact is, he was playing Russian roulette with their lives, while the women were playing Russian roulette with the prospect of becoming pregnant by Sheen, and being set for life.'
Meanwhile, Charlie's doctor Robert Huizenga also appeared on the show and clarified that Charlie does not have AIDS.
He said the actor had an undetectable level of HIV in his blood and was "absolutely healthy", revealing his main concerns are about how Charlie's depression and past drug use could hinder his treatment.
Charlie said he is not currently taking drugs but still drinks alcohol.
