The actress spoke to Star2.com from Vienna, Austria recently about her involvement in the TV series, Strike Back, a Cinemax Original production.
Yeoh, 53, said that once she returns, "I will tell you the reason why I am coming back to Malaysia. I think you will be very happy."
Yeoh is engaged to Datuk Jean Todt, 69, who is currently the United Nations Special Envoy for Road Safety.
Could Yeoh's return be related to her upcoming wedding? When asked about nuptial plans, she answered:
"We are just trying to find the right date. As you know my dad passed away at the end of last year, I just want to give it a little bit of time. We will find the right date, hopefully by the end of this year. If not, sooner."
As for the wedding venue, Yeoh shared that she and Todt will first have to decide on a country where they will officially register as a married couple.
"But we will be definitely be celebrating it in Malaysia," she added. Yeoh's father Datuk Yeoh Kian Teik passed away in November 2014.
It was reported that the actress was in the middle of shooting Strike Back in Budapest, Hungary, when she received a call about her father's condition and managed to return to Malaysia to spend time with him before his passing.
Yeoh stars as an antagonist in the final season of the action-packed Strike Back, her first foray into television.
She will also be seen in the sequel of the Oscar-winning wuxia film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - scheduled to be released next year.
Asked if marriage would change the kind of roles she would take on, Yeoh replied:
"Never has, never will. A piece of paper that says that you are married to someone else is a profession of love. I think who you are is who you are."
Strike Back airs every Saturday at 11pm on Cinemax (Astro Ch 412), with mid-season starting on Sept 12.
