John Economou went to California with big dreams but ended up with empty pockets.

He found it difficult to find a job and had no money so looking for shelter, he went to Venice Beach with few possessions and a skateboard.

According to UNILAD, Economou had modelled his whole life in his hometown in Milwaukee and came to L.A. when he decided that home could not offer what he wanted anymore.

He recounted how he met Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid:

“I was just chilling on the beach and watching the water, minding my own business and then I see these people come over. They looked all presentable and good looking… Then I saw seagulls swarming around the girls because they brought the food out and I started walking over there to shoo them away.”

Catching their attention, they began talking.

The two models were actually at the beach for a shoot and were accompanied by Jenner's modelling agent, Ashleah Gonzalez who set Economou up with Two Management, the same company that launched Jenner's modelling career.

Though Economou now has a contract with the modelling agency he still chooses to live on the streets of Venice Beach. The young man doesn’t consider himself “homeless” though he prefers the term “traveller.”
