Asian cinema ruled the San Sebastian Film Festival, with renowned Chinese director Feng Xiaogang's I Am Not Madame Bovary clinching the top prize and Fan Bingbing winning Best Actress for the same film.
According to AFP via The Straits Times, Fan plays a cafe owner seeking vengeance against her ex-husband.
The comedy is centred around a couple who, wanting to obtain a property, decide to fake a divorce.
However, when Fan's character discovers her husband has moved into their new apartment with a mistress, she then embarks on a years-long mission to get a real divorce.
The comedy won a jury prize for "its ambitious rendering of a woman's Kafkaesque struggle as she takes on the Chinese legal system" at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The 64th edition of the festival was held at the northern Spanish seaside resort and saw 17 shows in contention from China, Spain, Argentina, Chile, France, Britain, the United States, Sweden, Iceland, Poland, South Korea and Japan.
