American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr's net worth is set to surge by 37 per cent to as much as US$330 million (S$438.9 million) after beating Philippines champ Manny Pacquiao in a 12-round championship match on Saturday.
According to Wealth-X, the match is the richest in boxing history, with the fighters earning an estimated total of US$300 million, although the exact figure is unknown.
The amount will be split 60-40 in Mayweather's favour. Mayweather is expected to take home up to US$180 million from the match revenue including pay-per-view subscriptions, arena tickets, sponsorships, merchandise, broadcast sales, and others.
On the other hand, Pacquiao is expected to collect up to US$120 million, which will push his net worth up by 36 per cent to US$300 million.
Dubbed the 'fight of the century', the match was a close fight but Mayweather won eventually by an unanimous decision.
According to BBC Sport, Pacquiao, who falls to 57 wins, six losses and two draws, blamed a shoulder injury for his defeat.
