Veteran nightlife performer William Scorpion quits Shanghai Dolly

Veteran club performer William Scorpion has called it quits as the headline artist and executive director of Mandopop nightspot Shanghai Dolly, ending a seven-year association with the group that manages the club.The Straits Times reported that his management role at the club ends today, but he will continue to perform his nightly sets there until the end of next month . From April, he will perform on an ad hoc basis.Scorpion, 52, tells Life! he decided to leave Shanghai Dolly to concentrate on his biography, which he hopes to publish this year, and to continue coaching in horse-riding, which he does part-time at the National Equestrian Park off Thomson Road. He is also planning to stage his first solo concert next year.Scorpion, who is divorced with two adult children, stresses that the move - a mutual and amicable split - does not mean the end of his career in show business.
