The historic Golden Horse wins for homegrown director Anthony Chen's Ilo Ilo has created a surge of renewed interest in the film.
So much so that Golden Village has doubled the number of screenings for the film this week, from four screenings a day to eight, reported The Straits Times.
The film was brought in for a second round of screenings last Thursday to celebrate its six nominations at the Golden Horse - the most number of nominations for a Singaporean film.
At the Golden Horse awards last Saturday night, Ilo Ilo bagged four out of six nominated awards including the top prize of Best Feature Film.
It also won Best Original Screenplay and Best New Director for Chen, as well as Best Supporting Actress for Malaysian actress Yeo Yann Yann, 36.
A spokesman from Golden Village Pictures, the distributor of the film, said that ticket sales "went up immediately" following the awards show last Saturday night.
"Tickets have been selling really fast since Golden Horse, so we added additional evening screenings this week so that more people can watch it," she said .
The film will likely be screened for another week from Thursday, at selected Golden Village cinemas.
