Source: My Paper/AsiaOneTexas-born teen idol Greyson Chance was recently in town to record the TV show, MTV Sessions. Chance, 15, talked to My Paper about girls, Justin Bieber, and how his new release ‘“ Truth Be Told Part 1, which sees him presenting a stripped-down sound ‘“ sets him apart. What are the songs in your new album about? Each song to me has a different underlying meaning. For example, (the song) Leila was me saying that I want a Leila. To me, Leila is the perfect person. She has no flaws... She’s a figment, a little thought in my imagination. Do you have a girlfriend currently? No, but even if I did, I wouldn’t tell you.(Laughs) What inspired your lyrics? I took a lot of inspiration from different relationships, things that I was feeling at the time... and girls that I liked at the time. How have you matured since your first album, Hold On To The Night? I feel that my music, especially with my new EP, has a quality that’s not really familiar right now in my generation’s view of pop music. No 15-year-old has ever done acoustic music and put it out like this. I would say (I’ve matured in knowing) how to be a better artist, how to be a better person, and how to be a good guy.I think I’ve just learnt a lot through travelling and through meeting people. How do you feel about being compared frequently to Justin Bieber? I don’t mind it at all.Any (singer) from 10 to 20 years old right now is going to be compared to Justin Bieber.Elizabeth Kamaldin MTV Sessions featuring Greyson Chance will air on MTV (StarHub Ch 533) on Dec 1 at 6pm.
