A California teacher has been suspended over a Facebook rant defending two colleagues accused of having sex with students last year.

Earlier this week, Melody Lippert, 38, and Michelle Ghirelli, 30, were reported to have accompanied several students to an Orange County beach where they treated them to alcohol and sex, reports Elite Daily.

Lippert, a teacher at South Hills High School, was charged with suspicion of conspiracy and contributing to the delinquency of a minor while Ghirelli, a former South Hills teacher who now works for the district, was charged with oral copulation and unlawful sex with a minor.

The two were placed on paid administrative leave. South Hills art teacher Sean Patrick Kane was also suspended on Thursday, according to the New York Daily News, after taking to social media to blast the students for not keeping the sex trips secret.

Kane’s rant is the fourth South Hills scandal to emerge in the past few weeks. A part-time coach of the school’s girls’ wrestling team was arrested on Jan. 7 for having sex with a 17-year-old member of the team.

The Daily News reports that 29-year-old Anthony Vidales has since posted bail for $20,000.

His arrest was followed by another South Hills wrestling coach, Scott McDonald Stragier, who was named in a lawsuit accusing him of choking and verbally abusing a student in front of other students.

The lawsuit, filed in the Los Angeles Supreme Court, states that Stragier nearly caused the boy to pass out on March 14.
