Taiwanese host A-ya was surprisingly tight-lipped when she was quizzed about her pregnancy recently.
According to an Apple Daily report, A-ya, who is three months pregnant and expected to give birth in August, was apparently overheard discussing the gender of her baby at a gathering in a restaurant with producer Chiu Li-Kwan, Bowie Tsang and Xie Na on Sunday (Feb 9).
She was overheard saying: "I hope that it's a girl".
However, when a reporter attempted to interview A-ya about her pregnancy after the gathering, she declined to respond and headed back into the restaurant.
While she may not be willing to discuss her pregnancy in the public sphere, her mother was more open in sharing details about her grandchild.
She said that A-ya has gained five kilograms since her pregnancy after consuming a higher amount of milk, eggs, cheese and beans to have more protein in her vegeratian diet, which she has been on for the past 18 years.
The 35-year-old will register her marriage to her American-Chinese boyfriend, Tony, in the United States. The couple have no plans so far to hold a wedding banquet in Taiwan.
Her baby will be taken care by her in-laws in future, said A-ya's mother.
