Shaolin Soccer's producer blasts Stephen Chow and calls him 'selfish'

Universe film boss Daneil Lam Siu Ming had earlier appeared on a Commercial Radio programme, where he talked about his divorce, the contract dispute with Elanne Kong Yeuk Lam and the trouble with Stephen Chow Sing Chi.

According to a report on Afspot, Lam had invested in the film Shaolin Soccer, but went to court with Chow later.

Lam said, "Actually before the film's release, we already had friction. First, he refused to hand over the film without any reason. At the time, we argued until the next day. Later, we had another dispute because the film had copyright problems.

"He is very self centered. When he privately released computer games and comic books, he didn't notify us first. So we ended up in court. I was the angriest about never being notified, as he doesn't even understand the most basic respect!

"I don't need him to know that I did him a favor. He is already so famous, but at least he should know how to respect other people! I am sorry that I don't have the talent to communicate with him, and that I don't have the talent to be his friend. We can only see each other in court."

Shaolin Soccer won six Hong Kong Film Awards, but Lam said that he never touched any of them. He joked, "If he [Chow] likes, he can hog all the awards!"
