Ryan Gosling, young star of everyone’s favorite tearjerker, “The Notebook,” was actually a huge jerk during filming and wanted Rachel McAdams fired.
The heartthrob, who played Noah Calhoun, reportedly asked director Nick Cassavetes to find another actress to play Allie Hamilton, his love interest. Gosling claimed that he had no chemistry with McAdams, who was only 25 during the filming.
Cassavetes said that he’s probably ”not supposed to tell this story,” but recalls a moment on set when Gosling called him aside in front of 150 people and asks, “Would you take her out of here and bring in another actress to read off camera with me?”
Cassavetes was shocked: "I said, ‘What?’ Then he says, ‘I can’t. I can’t do it with her. I’m just not getting anything from this.’"
Ironically, “The Notebook” is often cited as a film with the most chemistry between two lead characters, reports Elite Daily.
Cassavetes became so desperate for the two to develop a connection that he began to host therapy sessions
"We went into a room with a producer, they started screaming and yelling at each other. After the screaming match, Gosling and McAdams were fine. The two actors still fought occasionally, though. The rest of the film wasn’t smooth sailing, but it was smoother sailing."
After the filming, Gosling and McAdams dated on and off for four years.
