As Anthony Chen's Ilo-Ilo bagged an impressive haul of four awards at the recent Golden Horse Awards, it was not just a personal triumph for the sweep helped put Singapore's good name back out into the fore of Asian entertainment.
He was not the only Singaporean winner at this prestigious event, though. Actress Megan Zheng and composer Ricky Ho were two previous winners who hail from the Lion City, reported The Straits Times.
In 2003, Megan Zheng Zhiyun (Megan Tay), then 10, became the first Singaporean to win a Golden Horse award for her role in Jack Neo's movie - Homerun. She shared her Best New Performer award at the 40th Golden Horse Awards with Wang Baoqiang.
Since then, Zheng starred in two more films, One More Chance, in 2005, and My Family, My Heart, that was released in 2008.
The first-time-lucky thespian was one of the actresses handpicked by Neo to be groomed into a star. But, while the accomplished actress has expressed interest in pursuing a career in acting, she has also stated that she will only do so after completing her studies.

She was last spotted on the silver screen alongside the co-star of her breakout movie, Shawn Lee, as they paired up as presenters for the Young Talent Award at the 2011 Star Awards.
Ricky Ho was the second Singaporean to enter the Golden Horse Awards Hall of Fame in 2011.
