Remember this dog from 1 Night 2 Days? It recently died from cancer

Possibly Korea’s most famous dog, Sang Geun, which served as mascot on KBS’ Sunday variety show, “1 Night, 2 Days” has died of cancer.

According to a report on, the dog passed away on April 11. Sang Geun was a male Great Pyrenees born in 2004, and its real name was Huh Bee.

It first appeared on “1 Night, 2 Days” on the August 5, 2007 episode with then-member Ji Sang Ryul, who gave him the nickname Sang Geun.

Sang Geun continued to appear on the real-variety show until the April 7, 2011 episode.

During the four years, Sang Geun became a household name and well-recognized mascot of the show.

It not only appeared on the show but also in various commercials and movies.

Sang Geun died April 11 at his owners' home after suffering from cancer. His guardian and the manager of the Esac Animal Training Center, Lee Eung Jong, commented, “Through Sang Geun, we were able to deliver the message of love to many people.

Through him, we were given the opportunity to change society’s view of canines, and begin programs for abandoned animals.”

He continued, “While Sang Geun was alive, he received a lot of love from many people. We are saddened [by his death], and we will never forget him.”
