Professor Green has been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

The 'Are You Getting Enough' rapper was booked by police on Monday and it is thought the charges relate to an incident earlier this month when he called police to say he had been robbed of his Rolex watch outside his home in South London.

A police spokesperson told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "A 29-year-old was arrested for attempting to pervert the course of justice after reporting for bail.

"He is bailed to a date in January pending further inquires."

Officers who responded to the emergency call made by Green - real name Stephen Manderson - saw his Mercedes car had been in a crash. He was then was held on suspicion of drink driving and spent a night in the cells before being bailed.

A police spokesperson said after the incident: "There were no reports of any injured parties. Inquiries into the robbery and the collision are ongoing."

'Read All About It' hitmaker Green was thought to have been out clubbing in London on the night of his arrest. His wife, Millie Mackintosh, was not thought to have been at home when he phoned police at 2:40am.

Green - who has just turned 30 - later tweeted: "It's been a strange couple a weeks. Growing old doesn't equal growing up, not even when you want it to!"

Perverting the course of justice carries a maximum sentence of life in jail.
