Source: CoedmagazinePlayboy Bunnies aren’t Playmates, they’re waitresses who work at the Playboy Club, of which there were dozens worldwide. Playmates and a very select few celebrities have donned the playboy bunny costume, which is custom made for each wearer. According to Hugh Hefner, the Bunny was inspired by Bunny’s Tavern, a bar and restaurant in Urbana, Illinois whose owner, Bernard “Bunny‘ Fitzsimmons, served Hef when he attended the University of Illinois. The outfit was the first service uniform registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. It consists of satin bunny ears, cotton tails, collars with bow ties cuffs with cuff links, black mesh pantyhose and matching high-heeled shoes. 2010 was the 50th anniversary of the bunny costume and with Hef’s birthday now a memory, we take a look back at the female form and the outfit that shaped it over those five decades.
