Patek Philippe hosts privileged guests at unique exhibition

Source: Plush, AsiaOne; Photos: Patek PhilippeThe collection of Patek Philippe chronographs made its inaugural Asian stop of the traveling exhibition here in Singapore on May 24, 2012 at the Alkaff Mansion.The exclusive event was specially curated to invite privileged guests to delve into the understanding of its reverent chronographs collection that Patek Philippe has crafted over the period spanning more than 150 years.Guests were given a visual treat where the outdoor courtyard of the Alkaff Mansion was transformed into a chic dinner and cocktail venue adorned with opulent chandeliers.President Mr Thierry Stern and Honorary President Mr Philippe Stern were present at the prestigious event to meet the guests.The evening started with a welcome address by Mr Thierry Stern before the grand unveiling of the Chronograph Cube.A complete showcase of 14 historical timepieces and 23 chronographs from the current range were flown in specially for the event.Inside the Chronograph Cube, guests were presented the Patek Philippe Chronographs history and significant milestones over the last 150 years - from the mid 19th century to modern day - including the 2012 novelty from Baselworld, Ref 5204P Splitseconds chronograph with Perpetual Calendar indication with aperture display.Guests also had the absolute privilege of experiencing the remarkable Minute Repeater Sound Chamber Cylinder, specially built by Patek Philippe from Geneva to showcase some of the brand's most coveted Minute Repeaters.Watchmakers from the house were present to activate the chimes for the guests' listening pleasure of the beautiful sound unique to Patek Philippe.It was a rare opportunity appreciated by all to get up close to these exquisite masterpieces which are in high demand that only the 'nominated' collectors could have a chance on owning one after a wait of up to two to three years.
