Aimee Chan suffered a backlash after revealing that she had to give away her three cats during her pregnancy because of her allergy.
Her cats are reportedly with her friend now, and for the safety of her son, she would bring her son for a health check-up to determine if he is allergic to animals, before re-adopting her cats again.
Many animal lovers were angry at her for abandoning her cats, and criticised her as being an irresponsible pet owner.
According to an article in Asian Pop News, the TVB actress admitted that she was unhappy about the criticisms and clarified her situation.
Responding to remarks that she should not have adopted cats in the first place as she has an allergy, the actress explained she only learnt of her allergy after adopting the felines.
She had since been taking medication for six years to control her allergy problem.
Aimee also stressed that she did not abandon her cats for good. She left them at her friend's place as she is currently breastfeeding at the moment.
During breastfeeding, she is unable to consume any medication.
She said: "I have taken the medication for six years. I won't mind continuing with it. Adopting animals is like having kids, they have to be respected. It's a lifetime commitment. I have mutual consensus with my friend to take the cats home once I stop breastfeeding. I hope everyone will not misunderstand it further."
