Gong Li may have had an illustrious career in show business thus far but she has admitted to having one regret that will plague her for the rest of her life.

Speaking in an interview on the Telling Maria variety show, Gong Li revealed that she still cannot get over passing up the chance to act in the Stephen Chow film, Flirting Scholar, 20 years ago.

Gong Li went on to explain after going through acting school, which portrayed acting as a serious job, she could not understand what Chow was bringing to the table in Flirting Scholars.

However, that decision now haunts her seeing how successful the film has become -- there will be at least one television station in China that airs the film every week due to its popularity.

She also said that if she had a chance to turn back time, she would like to be like other actors and swap her persona with a 'mad' performance.

Gong Li also praised Andy Lau, who she once worked with on the film What Women Want, for being able to portray serious emotions, like in a tragedy, yet also bring out the fun when making a comedy.
