Source: Diva, AsiaOneCould Singaporeans be seeing local table tennis star Li Jiawei on the silver screen next? The Beijing-born national player is reportedly in talks to star in a local movie centred around the sport, according to my paper. The 31-year-old paddler is currently on medical leave after sustaining a foot injury during the Olympics, said the report.According to sources, a local director has approached Li to offer her a role in the movie. But no details have been revealed so far.Li allegedly met the bosses of Popstar Media and Clover Films last week at the Four Seasons Hotel, to discuss the project. To this, Li said she will consider a movie role if the script is right. Both parties have yet to confirm if the rumours are true.According to my paper, Li is also considering retiring from table tennis. While she believes she is still able to carry on playing competitively, Li says she has other important considerations as well, as a wife and mother. If she were to continue to train, she would have to bring her family over from Beijing, where they are currently residing.Li will also have to plan for her son's preschool education in Singapore. The three-year-old recently celebrated his birthday in October. If she retires from the sport, Li says she hopes to stay in the US for a period of time to learn English."I've been in Singapore for 18 years, but I've always been around other players who are from China, or my coach."I don't have a circle of friends who speak English. I want to live in the US for some time, to learn the language."Li says she also plans to use the time that she will have to read up on Singapore's history, as "18 years is not a short period of time"."I'm currently learning to play the piano, which is what I've always wanted to do since I was a kid," says Li.
