One of this year's Miss World Singapore finalists was born with a physical defect, but she managed to overcome that obstacle and even went on to become a pageant contestant.

According to a report in Shin Min, 22-year-old Cai Xin Mian was constantly laughed at by classmates because she had a harelip.

As a result, she decided to save money for plastic surgery at an early age and took part in a beauty contest to prove that with just hard work, one can achieve their dreams.
