Taiwanese singer-songwriter David Tao's wedding banquet on Aug 31 was a star-studded event as Mandopop's biggest stars Jay Chou, Wang Leehom, JJ Lin and Jam Hsiao attended the luxurious 55-table banquet held at 6-star Mandarin Oriental Taipei.

According to a report in AsiaOne via Apple Daily Taiwan, 45-year-old Tao wed Penny Chiang, 29, after more than 2 years of dating. Chiang is the daughter of a Taiwanese businessman whose hardware business is worth NT$10 billion (S$419 million).

The banquet decor featured a purple theme and the atmosphere was described as heartwarming. The groom performed John Lennon's Love while holding his bride's hand and the newly-wed couple later sang Tao's love ballad Marry Me Today.

Guests were generous with wedding angbaos which amounted to nearly NT$600 million. A currency-counting machine was spotted at the banquet's reception area, reportedly provided by the hotel.

In addition, a Sina report said that Chou admitted that he was doing research for his upcoming wedding with model Hannah Quinlivan, which would take place before his 36th birthday in January next year.

Wang and his wife Li Jinglei also made their first public appearance after the birth of their daughter in July.
