Man shares the unseen downside to losing 118kg in 3 years

John Burton, a 27-year-old doctor of astronomy from Manchester, England has bravely shared the side of weight loss you don’t always see.

He lost 260 pounds (approximately 118kg) over the course of three years.

Burton decided to be brave and show off his shirtless body so that the world can see what his transformation really looks like.

His before and after pictures on Reddit have already been viewed over 400,000 times.

Burton estimated that around 10kg of his current weight is made up of "excess skin and tissue" which hangs from his body in "bags" —- a side effect of his 120kg weight loss that's hidden when he's dressed.

Some Redditors suggested Burton start an online fundraiser to pay for surgery to remove his excess skin, but he responded that people are better off donating to more worthy charities.

"I love how positive and kind people are, and if they're inspired by me, that's the most incredible thing ever," he wrote. "I'd love for some real good to come out of it, and charities are a big part of what I like to support."
