Cecilia Cheung is not the only overseas star dating a Singaporean.

Last month, it was reported that Taiwanese Mandopop singer Elva Hsiao, 35, is dating wealthy Singaporean heir Elroy Cheo, 30.

Last year, Taiwan-based actress Charlie Young, 40, married Singaporean Khoo Shao Tze, 44, after an on-off relationship of 19 years.

Local male celebrities contacted by The New Paper agreed that Singaporean men have traits that women find desirable.

Home-grown actor Shane Pow, 24, said: "Singaporean men are well-educated, have sufficient spending power and are capable of giving our other halves a comfortable life."

"Although Singaporean men may not be as sensitive and romantic as those in other countries, I think the image that they portray to women is quite positive. Of course, being a local, I will say that Singaporean men are quite desirable."
