Local musicians and celebrities celebrated Tay Kewei and Alfred Sim's wedding on Sunday, Jan 4, as they exchanged vows after dating for about a decade, said Tay's management agency on Monday.

According to a report in AsiaOne, Sim finally popped the question in May 2014 but the news was kept under wraps as Sim had just entered Project SuperStar as a contestant and Tay was preparing for the release of her latest album. Sim was eventually crowned overall champion.

The 80-table wedding luncheon held at the Shangri-La Hotel had an awards-show theme.

Guests were entertained with many videos, short skits and music performances by close friends such as Project SuperStar contestants, The Freshman, MICappella and Le Sheng.

Mandopop stars JJ Lin and Wang Lee Hom had separately sent their congratulatory video messages to the newly-weds as they were not able to attend the wedding. JJ Lin is in Taiwan while Lee Hom is in L.A.

Tay and Sim have also written their own duet that will be released to the public, said Tay's management.

The couple spared no expense as Tay's gowns worn at the solemnization and wedding were designed and customised specially by local designers and her jewellery is worth $630,000 in total.
