The final hearing was held for Ko Young-wook today (April 10), who has now received his sentence. If you recall, the celebrity was previously charged with engaging in sexual acts with minors and sexual assault. In addition to jail time, the prosecution had demanded that an electronic anklet be placed earlier on in the case. An electronic anklet monitors the whereabouts of the person therefore making it a desirable object to use with suspects who need to be closely scrutinised.According to an article in Allkpop, Ko Young-wook has now been sentenced to 5 years in prison and 10 years of wearing the electronic anklet after the court found him guilty of all charges.“Even if there was no violence or threat involved in the sexual acts and oral sex with minors, it can still be recognized as coercion and force,‘ the judge said as he explained the guilty verdict. He continued, “In the process of being investigated back in December of last year for the same type of charges, he sexually molested a minor again. He has used his celebrity status to commit acts of crime and has shown no signs of reflecting by instead putting the blame on the victims.‘The court also stated, “We looked to see if there is a risk of the defendant repeating the crime. The defendant committed crimes against minors under, the age of 19. Two of those victims are only 13 years old. In addition, between 2010 to 2012, he has committed sexual assault a total of 5 times."Ko Young-wook’s lawyers have yet to reveal if they will be appealing the sentence.
