In the battle of the carbonated drink giants in China, Coke is the real thing, but Pepsi’s ads are funnier!The latest of a series of TV ads from Pepsi stars Louis Koo, Huang Xiaoming, Show Luo and Jolin Tsai. The ads are based on the Chinese classic Journey to the West and is being called Smooth Journey‘“ just like the passage of carbonated drinks down the throat ona hot day.The slogan for the advert is said to be “Start Desiring.‘ The company’s previous ads have featured the same group, as well as Jay Chou, Edison Chennow persona non grata, and Rain. This time around they won’t be in blue wigs, which was always a laugh. Only Jolin wears a wig, so far as we can tell, and it’s bright red.Maydaily reports that the ad was filmed in Dunhuang, in Gansu province, along the Silk Route, which ancient Buddhist monks often traveled through. According to one report, Louis and Xiaoming were supposed to be two generals who fought each other.But their stone figures were stolen by a gang of crooks, who carried them off. The ad is scheduled to be released on Tuesday (July 20), while Louis and Xiaoming are set to provide a song and dance in Shenzhen on the same date in a Pepsi promotion.
